Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) Africa Section Student Research Grant Winners 2020/2021
Ms Caroline Kerichu a student in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies pursuing MA- Biodiversity and Natural Resources Management Programme, has successfully applied and won a field research grant from Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) for her Masters research work titled “Assessing the Management of Biodiversity in Kenyan Gazetted Forest Ecosystems: Case of Eburu and Masai Mau Forests’’. The study intends to assess the impacts of different forest management programmes and activities on biodiversity, assess specific biodiversity management programmes, the biodiversity recorded at station level and indicators used for management monitoring at the two-forest station in Eburu and Maasai Mau forest in Kenya.
She was among the six graduate student in Africa who got the research grant for the year 2020/2021. The funding is awarded to research that advances the science and practice of conserving biological diversity in Africa.
