“My search for knowledge has taken me across the oceans to Deutschland. Through the generous support of Katholischer Akademischer Ausländer-Dienst (KAAD), I have received a 6 month scholarship for a research stay in Germany at the Center for Development Research (ZEF). ZEF is an institute of the University of Bonn, Germany established 21 years ago. The center carries out research on global development issues and educates doctoral students from all over the world. Under the guidance of senior researchers and professors, PhD students and junior researchers receive constant guidance and advice on their research work. Being in my third year of doctoral studies at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies of the University of Nairobi, I will benefit from the interaction with PhD students from all over the world, senior researchers and professors in a multicultural, multilingual and multi-disciplinary research and learning environment. After my stay, I look forward to using and transferring the skills I will have acquired back to the University of Nairobi. I wish to thank my supervisors Dr. Samuel Owuor and Dr. Boniface Kiteme for their continued support and encouragement in my knowledge pursuit journey.”
