The Hungry Cities Partnership (HCP), the Consuming Urban Poverty Project (CUP) and the African Food Security Urban Network (AFSUN) convened in Toronto, Canada (17th to 23rd July, 2016) for a joint workshop to present the results of their new research projects in China, India, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Mexico and Jamaica. The workshop, hosted by the Balsillie School of International Affairs and Wilfrid Laurier University, was framed by the disjuncture between SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities) and how the research presented can help bring these two goals into alignment. Based on the Nairobi Case Study Survey, Dr. Samuel Owuor of the University of Nairobi’s Department of Geography and Environmental Studies presented a paper on “Some aspects of household food insecurity situation in Nairobi City, Kenya”. In addition, the Hungry Cities Partners participated in a planning meeting of the SSHRC-IDRC Hungry Cities Partnership (HCP) Project.
