Humboldt University Berlin (Germany) in collaboration with the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies (University of Nairobi) and Karatina University (Kenya) hosted a very interactive workshop (October 11-12, 2018) that brought together scientists and business community. The workshop, held in Nairobi, Kenya, focused on “logistics and retail of fresh fruit and vegetables in Kenya and Tanzania”. The workshop was officially graced by Prof. Ephraim Wahome (Associate Dean, Faculty of Arts); Dr. Boniface Wambua (Chair, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies); Prof. Gilbert Nduru (Karatina University); and Prof. Elmar Kulke (HU Berlin). Presentation from the University of Nairobi were made by Dr. Samuel Owuor (The urban food systems of Nairobi); Dr. Parita Shah (Food production and market channels in Machakos County); Dr. Alice Odingo (Retail of fruits and vegetables in Machakos); and Dr. Stellah Mukhovi (Socio-ecological resilience of agro-industrial food systems in Mount Kenya region.
