THE DEPARTMENT HOSTS CANADIAN FIELD STUDIES IN AFRICA GROUP OF STUDENTS

The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies started the year on a high gear by hosting the Canadian Field Studies in Africa (CFSIA) group of students on Tuesday 15th of January, 2019. The group is largely composed of students from McGill University in Canada, as well as students from other collaborating Canadian universities attending their field studies in Africa. The visit was co-organized by Dr. Samuel Owuor and Dr. Francis Mwaura – both alumni of McGill University. They were welcomed to the University of Nairobi and to the Department by the Head of Department, Dr. Boniface Wambua, who acknowledged the long-standing collaboration between the Departments of Geography in McGill University and University of Nairobi. The orientation lecture on Kenya and Nairobi was given by Dr. Samuel Owuor. The CFSIA group of students were later hosted by their fellow comrades from UoN for joint lunch, tour of Nairobi City and further informal orientation to Kenya and Nairobi city.
