The nourishing spaces Principal Investigator, Dr. Jane Battersby of African Centre for Cities, University of Cape Town, visited the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies in May 2018. The Nourishing Spaces Project aims to analyse urban food systems governance for purposes of unravelling the relationships between consumption and non-communicable diseases (NCDS), in order to present policy and governance approaches to prevent NCDs. The project is taking place in six cities in Africa: Nairobi and Kisumu (Kenya); Cape Town and Kimberley (South Africa); and Windhoek and Oshakati (Namibia).
